Sisters and staff at Our Lady of Good Counsel will pedaling away in Partners for Affordable Housing’s Pedal Past Poverty. School Sisters of Notre Dame will again have several teams participating in the event Saturday, February 27, at the Mankato YMCA.
Presented by Partners for Affordable Housing in Mankato, Minnesota, with whom several sisters work and volunteer, the event is a one-day and one-of-a-kind stationary bike race. About 60 ten-person teams from businesses and organizations take turns pedaling on the stationery bikes to raise money and compete individually and as teams. Prizes are awarded for most money raised (team and individual), most miles biked (team and individual), most team spirit and most creative team.
Last year, six SSND teams of pedaling volunteers collected more than $18,000 in donations to raise funds and awareness for homelessness in the Mankato area.
Visit Partners for Affordable Housing for event information, to register a team or donate. Look for these SSND teams: SSND Schwinners, The BKC (Blazin’ Kitchen Crew), Hill’s Angels, Tour de Notre Dame II, The Fast & Furious (NOT!), Cycling Saints and Holy Spokes.
