Thanks to generous partners like you, our “Free Store” has provided a beacon of hope for people moving into stable housing after having experienced homelessness. Families and individuals have been able to shop for commonly needed household items (beds & bedding, furniture, kitchen supplies and other essential items) at no cost to them.
Over the past year, and due to COVID-19 restrictions our “Free Store” has gone through many transitions. Last Spring, we initiated appointment-only shopping times for community members with referrals from our partner agencies. In the Fall 2020, we made the difficult decision to close our store to the community, while still accepting donations for our own clients and guests.
As of Spring 2021, we are anticipating a move, which will impact our ability to continue accepting and storing the items. We are currently accepting basic household items and furniture on a match-making basis. If you have furniture or beds in decent condition, feel free to call us. We will work with our housing advocates to find clients needing the items you are offering.
We have been working with a budding organization, A Fresh Start, who will be filling this need within the community, based on referrals. They expect to be up and running by mid-July 2021. We will keep you informed.
