EMERGENCY SHELTER PROGRAM
Partners for Housing oversees three shelter buildings in two locations: Theresa House and Welcome Inn in Mankato and Union Street Place in St. Peter.
Our shelters provide up to 90 days of emergency housing for individuals and families facing homelessness. We serve individuals of all genders at both locations. We also accept emotional support and service animals that have their paperwork and are up to date on vaccinations.
During their stay, guest work with shelter housing advocates to identify barriers to housing and work towards housing stability. Our shelter and housing programs staff are also able to conduct coordinated entry assessments both with guest and community members facing homelessness.

The Theresa House began in a convent community of the School Sisters of Notre Dame that became the pastoral care center of St. Peter & Paul’s Church. As early as 1975, they offered housing to refugee families before opening its doors as a shelter to assist families and single females in August of 1996. Theresa House merged with Partners for Affordable Housing in 2009.
Committed to serving unhoused families and individuals, it provides shelter over the course of a 90 day stay. Individuals and families are assigned a private bedroom and share common areas with other shelter guests. All shelter guests have access to a Housing Advocate during their stay. Advocates walk alongside shelter guests during their stay, assisting them in finding safe, affordable housing.
Welcome Inn

Partners for Affordable Housing opened the Welcome Inn Transitional Living Center the summer of 1985. Committed to serving unhoused families and individuals, it provides shelter over the course of a 90 day stay. Individuals and families are assigned a private bedroom and share common areas with other shelter guests. All shelter guests have access to a Housing Advocate during their stay. Advocates walk alongside shelter guests during their stay, assisting them in finding safe, affordable housing.

Our newest location, Union Street Place, formerly the St Peter Motel, operates year-round for all individuals and families. This shelter provides five safe, comfortable and private sleeping areas complete with a private bathroom. Common areas such as the kitchen, living room, and laundry room are shared with the other shelter guests.
All shelter guests have access to a Housing Advocate during their stay. Advocates walk alongside shelter guests during their stay, assisting them in finding safe, affordable housing.
