Homelessness in the Mankato Community

- 14,000 individuals live at or below the poverty level in Blue Earth and Nicollet Counties. (US Census Bureau)

The Wilder Foundation in a non-profit organization that funds The Minnesota Homeless Study every three years. This study is aimed to help those better understand the prevalence of homelessness in Minnesota and the circumstances of those experiencing homelessness. It is important to understand that the results these studies yield are educated estimates.
The most recent study was conducted on October 26th, 2023. It was found that on that one fall night, 10,522 individuals in Minnesota were unhoused. This number represents an overall 7% decrease since the prior study.
Families with children under 18 account for 47% of the unhoused population in Minnesota. (Wilder)
Between our three emergency homeless shelters, Partners for Housing is able to house 17 households on any given night. In 2024, P4H served over 100 individuals and families at all three shelter locations. Throughout Partners for Housing’s various housing programs, over 70 households were able to secure and maintain safe and affordable housing in 2024.
