Shelter Guests and Transitional Housing Clients were joyfully overwhelmed by the generosity that surrounded the “Adopt a family” / “Christmas Wishes” program this past year! Buying Christmas gifts was not possible for the 20 families and 40 individuals in crisis who asked for help. Thanks to amazing community support, everyone on the list received several gifts that brought tears to the eyes of our clients. “My children knew we don’t have enough money for gifts, but when they saw presents and a very special holiday meal in the living room for everyone at shelter… smiles, tears and joy filled the room for the first holiday in a long time! Thank You!,” shares one shelter parent. What could be a bleak, disappointing time of year for those in need – turns into a happy, normal-feeling time when guests feel that someone cares about them. We wish to thank everyone that adopted a family, donated gifts, brought by donations of food, helped wrap gifts and voted for our tree at the Kiwanis Holiday Lights! It was a special time, and we’re planning for this year again!
